T’ą̄gūhewįga was born about 1868.

Name

The marriage record of Jasper Blowsnake and her daughter Annie Kate Whitebear gives her clan name as Tonguhawinga, which is forT’ą̄gūhewįga, "She Returns by Flying". The name derives from t’ą̄, "to fly"; guhé, "coming back (to where one started from)" (< gū, "to come back"; he, "to arrive"); -wį-, a feminine gender infix; -ga, a definite article suffix used in personal names. This is an Upper Moiety ("Bird Clan") name.

Marriage

She was married to, or at least had a child by, Whitebear (Hųjᵋskaga in Hocąk). He would have been a member of the Bear Clan, and specifically, in all likelihood, a member of the White Bear Subclan.
