Leslie was born in Sparta, Kent Co., MI on 9 Aug 1880. He passed away in Bartlett, Cook Co., IL on 31 Dec 1970, and was buried in Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin. He married Hildur Olive Norby, daughter of Jacob and Anna Maria (Nilsson) Norby on 13 Jun 1906 in Chicago.

They belonged to the Methodist Church, but later as their sons grew they joined the Prebyterian church. Leslie worked for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company and the American Telephone and Telegraph Company. They moved to Elgin and lived at 114 Edison Avenue, and later they lived upstairs in a two-story house they bought in partnership with their eldest son Melvin at 23 Lynch Street in Elgin, Illinois. Leslie retired in 1942 as Supervisor of Maintenance for the North Division of Chicago, Illinois Bell Telephone Company, after 40 years of service. . . . Leslie was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Dundee Lodge 190, AF & AM; past master and honorary member of Monitor Lodge 522, AF & AM; a member of Loyal L. Munn Chapter 96 Royal Arch Masons; Cryptic Council 46, Bethel Commandery Knight Templars 36, Bethel Chapter 291 Order of the Eastern Star and Sharon Shrine 26.
