Janet was born in Rosskeen, Ross & Cromarty, Scotland, baptised on 6th March 1800, to John and Margaret Shearer.[2]
(There must be some doubt about her birth in that: 1/ Rosskeen is about 13 miles from where she lived with George Gollan in Urquhart and Logie Wester, and 2/ None of Janet and George's children were named John or Margaret, which is unusual. Regardless, she is the only Janet Shearer that I've found who was born in that region at that time.)
There's no record of a marriage to George Gollan however there's a bunch of baptism records for Janet Shearer and George Gollan's children:-
James, 9 Oct 1817 at Urquhart and Logie Wester,
Roderick, 16 Aug 1819 at Urquhart and Logie Wester,
Mary, 15 Oct 1821 at Urquhart and Logie Wester,
Thomas, 23 Jun 1824 at Urquhart and Logie Wester,
George, 8 Mar 1827 at Urquhart and Logie Wester,
Isabella, 5 Apr 1830 at Urquhart and Logie Wester.
Without any further clues we have to surmise about what happened to Janet. We know George married Isabella Innes in Jul 1834,
[1]
so Janet may have:-
died as a consequence of Isabella's birth in Apr 1830,
died from other causes, or
deserted the marriage.
Death is more likely than desertion, so let's assume she died about 1832.
