Biography

Amy Shearin was born to John and Lucretia Shearin.[1]

She married Samuel Walker around 1770.[2]

Feb.11,1771,Bute County,North Carolina, was a witness and proved a land transaction for James Laughter to John Laughter.[3]

1773 Samuel Walker devised his mill on Sandy Creek to his son, William Walker in 1773. Samuel Walker was granted leave to build a grist mill in 0range County in 1756 on Sandy Creek.[4]

In Samuel Walker's will March 05,1813,Warren,North Carolina. ,it states that Amy Walker was the widow of Samuel Walker and she received the bulk of his estate.[5]

In most families it was custom for the father to leave land to a daughter's husbands care. I think this was what John Shearin(Shearon) was doing in the following: As did Samuel when in his will, left his slaves to the care of Nancy's husband and not her.

Samuel and Amy's children are:

  • Nancy Walker Perkinson b. 1771
  • Cynthia Walker Perkinson b. 1773
  • Jane Walker b. 1775
  • Ransom Walker b.1777
  • Jesse Walker b.1779
  • William Walker b. 1781
  • Travis Walker b. 1783

In the 10 Aug 1786 Granville County, North Carolina Court session John is named in the Court Minutes wherein it states Ephraim Frazier proved a deed from John Shearon to Samuel Walker Sr for 307 acres.[6]
