William was born in St Cross South Elmham, Suffolk, England, on 24 March 1759, the eldest child of John Shearing and Sarah Gibbon. [1] He married Susanna Bennet in Winston, Suffolk, England, on 16 June 1786 [2] and they had a total of ten children. The family moved from Winston to Kenton, Suffolk, England, in about 1800 and William died in Kenton on 13 August 1828, aged 60. [3]

Research Notes

The Bennets seem to have been Independents: if I (Sukie Hunter) have the right Susanna Bennet she was baptised in the Independent chapel in Debenham at the age of 18 months. Thus a possible scenario is that William returned to the Church of England a few years after his wife died, to the extent of having all the children he still had access to baptised in the parish church on the same day (1 August 1817).

Shearing-275 and Shearing-1 appear to represent the same person because: They have basically the same information

Should we not just merge this person with Shearing-1, who is clearly the same person? And the same with his wife? William and Susanna had ten children in all: the missing ones are John, Robert and George. Also, WIlliam Jr was baptised in 1788, not 1791, according to my information.

Hello Irene

William Shearing was the brother of my ancestor, and I do have further information about him, although I don't think there are many sources available free on line. He died in Kenton, Suffolk, on 13 August 1828, because there is an intimation in the Bury & Norwich Post ( HIs wife was Susanna or Susan Bennet(t) and they were married in Winston, Suffolk on 16 June 1786, according to the Winston parish record as conveyed to me by Carol Brown Parker, a descendant.
