Lily May was born in 1893 in Strathmerton, Victoria.[1] Her parents were Robert William Shears and Annie Leithoff.
Lily Shears married Ellis Eddy on 15 January 1914 in Tocumwal, New South Wales, Australia. A local newspaper carried a report of the wedding:
A very pretty wedding took place at St. Alban's Church of England, Tocumwal, on Thursday, 15th inst., the contracting parties being Mr Ellis Charles Eddy, son of Mr Richard Eddy, and Miss May Shears, eldest daughter of Mr Robert Shears, both of Tocumwal. The Rev. J. Verso officiated, The church was tastefully decorated by the friends of the bride, a large bell being suspended above the chancel steps, whilst the altar was vested in white. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attended by Miss E. Levings, of Cobram. and Miss O. Shears, Mr E. Eddy acted as best man and Mr A Shears as groomsman.[2]
