Biography
member of the House of Sheehan. Peter was born on Tuesday, 27 December 1960 at the Bendigo Base Hospital in Victoria, Australia, when his parents lived at 14 Bayne Street, Bendigo. His father John Joseph Sheehan a School Teacher was 24 years old from Bendigo son and third child of John Gerard Sheehan and Annie Therese Campbell. His mother Dulcie Alison Sheehan 23 years old from Skipton, Victoria was the sixth child of Carl Rudolph Hoffmann and Violet Anne Reid. They were married at the St. Francis Xavier Church Bendigo East on 21 March 1959 in Bendigo; and he had one sibling Barbara Helen 19 months old. He was baptized on 15 January 1961 at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish White Hills by Parish Priest Hons. P J Dullard. [1]
Very little is known about his early life. Peter attended St Marys College Bendigo from Prep to Year (1966-1968) while living at 9 Fenton Street Bendigo. He received his First Holy Communion on 28 April 1968 at St Mary’s Cathedral. Later that year the family moved to Ballarat Victoria. Peter attended Mary’s Mount (Loretto) in Grade 2 with his sisters. In Grades 3 to 6 he attended Wendouree State School in Howitt Street Wendouree (1969-1972). The family home was at 1022 Norman Street Wendouree. Peter attended St. Patricks College Ballarat from 1973-1978. Headmaster Rev. Phil Nagle. Peter played football, cricket, squash and enjoyed bike riding, but also enjoyed music and loved to sing and played piano and later learnt guitar. He performed in School Theatre Productions and studied French to Year 11. He went on a school excursion in 1977 to New Caledonia with his French class and teacher Br. Breech He received his Confirmation on November 1st, 1974 when 13 years old at St. Patricks College Chapel by Bishop of Ballarat R A Mulkearns [4]. In 1978 he graduated HSC and was accepted into University of Technology where he completed a B.Bus. (Catering and Hotel Management) between 1979-1982.
