Linda Toki Walters William Garlick and his sister Frances and her husband Reuben Brann were bonded to sell their late father's land. This bond was executed shortly before William moved to Stokes County, North Carolina. They needed to be bonded because their father Lewen Bennett Garlick left minor children who had an interest in the property. The records do not clarify which of Lewen Bennett Garlick's wives was the mother of his older children. Lewen died right around 1793. During that time small pox was raging in the area and it was reported that about 500 people died in a very short time. William would name one of his sons Lewen. The early deeds of Gallia County record his name as Lewen Garlick but when these books were recopied the name was copied as Lewis Garlick.

Linda Toki Walters I found the Garlick Cemetery where lots of the Garlic's are buried. It was on private property, in a cow pasture that is no longer protected by a fence around it. Naturally, most of the stones are broken and unreadable, with cow dung everywhere. I almost cried. Hiram and Elizabeth are buried in the Haskins Cemetery, not too far down the road. The original stones are there, but Hiram's great-grandson, Morris Haskins, (1911-2002) a very influential banker in Gallipolis, and one of the original founders of Bob Evans, had their stones replaced. I know Hiram and Elizabeth are noted as one of the first residents of Gallia County. Thank you for the info.
