Rebecca Jane "Becky Jane " (Sheets) Caldwell was born in 1817. She was the daughter of William Franklin Sheets and Elizabeth Ann "Betty" (Henry) Sheets. She married William F. Caldwell on November 28, 1833 in Gallia County, Ohio, United States. She passed away in 1881.
Their son, Hugh Wilson Caldwell and Ester Evelyn Trowbridge begat Emma Rowena Caldwell aka, 'Grandma Gatewood' who is known for her hiking treks on the Appalachian Trail. Grandma Gatewood was the first woman to hike the entire 2,050 miles of the Appalachian Trail by herself in 1955.
