edit: absent any additional input, I have marked this parent-child relationship as uncertain. They should probably be disconnected entirely.

However, I am inclined to believe that they are half brothers, and have been assumed to be the same person on many many user-generated trees, and the like. here is what I have found so far. . .
Sir Robert of Butterwick (c1462-1518) m. 1st Helen Delves (1465-1523), m. 2nd Anne Barley (d1557\8) was speaker of the House of Commons 1510, 1512.
By his first wife he had a son, Robert (1484-1531) who married Jane Stanley (1486-1558). He may have also had a second wife by the name of Margaret Zouche (d.1554?), but I have not confirmed this.
Here is where it gets tricky. It appears that Edmund (1521-1549), First Baron Sheffield, was the son of the above Robert and Jane Stanley. Elisham seems to also be Robert's son, but his mother has been hard to find. She may be Margaret Zouche, but the dates do not match. I have dates for Elisham that show 1521-1549, as well as later dates of 1530-1549.
If they were brothers, Edmund would be the first born, and thus heir. The death years are the same, and would explain the confusion of the two brothers being one man.
I believe Elisham married Mary Allison, and Edmund married Anne De Vere.
Love to hear your thoughts!
I've found similar assertions online, but we're trying to build well sourced and documented trees here. To prove Elisham is Robert's son, we need something solid from the time he lived or shortly thereafter that makes the connection. A birth record, a marriage record, a census or visitation, property records, a will... Something like that. With a family of status like this one, there should be a paper trail somewhere.
As you can see here, the only source cited is the "Kahn family tree." I have no idea what that is, but I am quite certain it is modern, and not from the time of Sir Robert and his son(s). Most homemade trees you will find online are similarly unreliable.
