According to his gravestone, Abner Sheldon was born on 8 Feb 1752 at Deerfield, Franklin, Massachusetts,[1], after the death of his father. He was the son of Abner Sheldon and Lucy Bardwell. Abner Sheldon, son of the widow Lucy Sheldon, was baptized ln 8 April 1752 at Deerfield.[2]
He married Rebecca Frary (1758–1807). The Intentions were publish on 18 Dec 1779.[3] They had the following children:
"Sheldon, Abner, Deerfield. Corporal, Capt. John Locke's co. of Minute-men, Col. Williams's regt., which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775; service, 9 days; also Sergeant, Capt. Joseph Stebbins's co., Col. Jonathan Brewer's regt.; muster roll dated Aug. 1, 1775; engaged April 28, 1775, service 95 days; also, company return [probably Oct., 1775]; also, order for bounty coat dated Cambridge Camp, Nov. 20, 1775."[4]
According to the Daughter of the American Revolution,[5] "Abner Sheldon, (1752-1828). served as corporal at the Lexington Alarm and as sergeant in the Massachusetts militia under Capt. Joseph Stebbins, at the battle of Bunker Hill."
He passed away on 2 Mar 1823 in New York,[1] and is buried at Honeoye Falls Cemetery, Honeoye Falls, Monroe County, New York.[6][1]
