Christian was probably his parent's third son. Birth date based on omission from the 1773 Montgomery County, VA taxable list, and his inclusion in the 1777 militia. Both situations normally required the subject to be at least age 16. He served in the militia during the Revolution with his older brothers and future in-laws.
He was apparently close to his wife's cousin Richard Haven. They had grown up together on adjacent properties, and Richard first married Christian's sister Christiana who died several months later. Christian then stood as a witness for Richard's second marriage.
His father Jacob mentioned in his will of 1795 that he had already apportioned land to Christian. Various other records show Christian owned land in Montgomery and Giles counties, VA before he left the area.
He moved with his family from VA to Knox County, TN probably after his daughter Elizabeth was born(~1798) and was included on the tax list there by 1812 with 550 acres.
He wrote his will on 4 Nov 1819. It was proved in Jan 1920. He was about 59 when he died.
