Paris was one of the few from his relatives in Tennessee who joined the Union Army in the Civil War. His grave memorial shows served 115 IN Vol. Inf., Co. L.
An 1880 directory showed he had 192 acres of land in McMillan, TN.
He married twice, but apparently had no progeny from the first union. The 1900 census shows he and his second wife had had 6 children but only one survived by then.
