Also anything about the ancestry of Aristides Franklin (Henry) TATE, whose son was Sir Frank Tate - an educationalist in Victoria, Australia in the early 1900s. I have come across a brick wall with connections to Isabelle TATE, who married James SHELLCOTT . He was a wool comber who lived at 2 Victoria Buildings, Shipley in Yorkshire ( Birth Certificate BXCC 111296) Their Son Paul Tate SHELLCOT was born in September 1853 and came with his mother Isabella to an uncle (oral history) in Victoria. Henry's brother Robert William TATE was a teacher in Victoria.

Oral history from my grandfather Francis Edward Shellcot was that his father Paul Shellcot (son of Isabella Tate and James Shellcot) came to an uncle in Victoria from Yorkshire in 1859. The uncle's family wanted Paul to be a lawyer, but he wanted to be a farmer. Paul died in Castlemaine. Henry and Robert Tate lived in the Castlemaine area, and were closely connected with the education system. I think I have been following the wrong Tate path. I have discovered that Isabella's father William and her brother Paul also came out to Victoria. Please help

Aristides Franklin Tate and Robert Tate, brothers, but came separately to Victoria. Robert was a school teacher in Chewton and Kyneton. Aristides was a store keeper and a miner. I have hit a brick wall connecting Isabella with Robert and Aristides. Oral history says that Isabella and Robert were brother and sister (or cousins). Aristides son Frank became a teacher, then a school inspector then knighted for services to education. His grandfather was a horticulturist of note in Chelsea, London.
