The eldest son of Sir John and Eleanor (Lovell) Shelley is John Shelley who was created a Baronet in 1611. He married Jane, daughter of Sir Thomas Reresby. Like John Shelley's family, Sir Thomas Reresby was a recusant who was persecuted for his Catholic faith. [2]
