William's father, ?, Henry Shelley married twice. Firstly to Frideswide Wolsingham and secondly, to Barbara Cromer. Frideswide died childless but Barbara is said to have had 12 children.
I am uncertain as to the relationship of William Shelley, husband of Dorothy Bowers. A pedigree shows that William, son of Henry Shelley and Barbara Cromer, died in infancy, although I have found no sign of his death.
Records show that although William married in Eccleshall, Staffordshire, he was of Bromley.
The records do not say Abbots Bromley which is in Staffordshire. The parish of Chislehurst is bounded by Bromley, which is the home of Henry's first wife, Frideswide Walsingham.
Henry SHELLEY, Born 4 Dec. 1554, the posthumous son of of Henry Shelley of Warminghurst and Anne, daughter of Richard Sackville of Chipstead, in Surrey.
First marriage:- 29 May 1575, to Frideswide, daughter of Sir Thomas Walsingham of Scadbury, Kent.
There are said to be no children of the first marriage.
Second marriage:- 15 Sept. 1578, Barbara daughter of William Cromer of Tunstall, Kent, Scadbury Park.
Scadbury Park is in Chistlehurst Kent which is is bounded by Bromley, Orpington, Paul's Cray, Foot's Cray, Eltham, and the hamlet of Mottingham.

I was not totally convinced that William was the son of Henry Shelley and Barbara Cromer but please see my notes in profile. If you can prove otherwise, please do so.
