Research Notes

Elizabeth, born about 1711, married William Davis, Oct. 29, 17**. (Her mother's will was recorded in Pittsylvania County in 1770, mentioning daughter Elizabeth DAVIS, leading to the false supposition that she was either the wife or the mother of William Davis (d. 1791), miller of Pittsylvania County. Elizabeth could have been the wife of a different William Davis of Culpeper County, who did have a wife named Elizabeth.)

Shelton-4360 and Shelton-365 appear to represent the same person because: duplicate profiles with same parents, siblings & husband. Different dates should be put into research notes while awaiting a source.

Shelton-4308 and Shelton-365 appear to represent the same person because: clear duplicates
There is no reason to associate William Davis, husband of Elizabeth Shelton, with the man who appeared in the 1767 tax list in Pittsylvania County. There were three separate William Davises in Pittsylvania County in the 18th century; I'm descended from one of them so I researched all three.
