Biography

Roseanna was born in 1765. She may have been the daughter of Reuben Shelton and Priscilla Medley but this uncertain. She passed away in 1844.

Research Notes

Find a Grave lists Rosanna Shelton as marrying William Whitlock in 1786. However, there have also been assertions that he was married to a woman named Sarah Jervis in 1786 and didn't marry Roseanna until after she died in 1796. No tangible evidence exists of this marriage, however the date of William and Roseanna's marriage is also undocumented as the International Marriage Index only lists that there was a marriage and the respective birth years of the couple.

There is also a discrepancy between Find A Grave and the International Marriage Index with regard to birth location. Find a Grave lists Rosanna's birthplace as Virginia while the US and International Marriage Records list it as Tennessee. If Roseanna is the daughter of Reuben Shelton, her birth location would be Virginia as Virginia conducted a census in 1764 and Reuben was living in Culpepper County, Virginia at the time.
