John Lawrence Shelton-Obit J. L. Shelton, pioneer of 1844, died here last Thursday. Mr. Shelton was born in Missouri June 4, 1842. He crossed the plains in 1844 and in 1879 was married to Naoma Crowley, who died in 1894. He is survived by two children-Claude and Donald Shelton, who were present at the funeral. Mr. Shelton was a veteran of the Indian wars. His early life was spent in Polk County, the city of Dallas now occupying part of the donation claim taken up by his father. He came to Cottage in 1900.
