Oliver Shepard was the son of Jonathan Shepard and Love (Palmer) Shepard of Coventry, Connecticut. The 1992 history of Alstead, New Hampshire, says that Oliver was the brother of Amos Shepard, who was the son of Jonathan Shepard of Coventry.[1] He was probably the child whose birth record is transcribed as "Olive Shepard," born to Jonathan and Love Shepard at Coventry on 9 Dec 1742.[2] His gravestone says he was in his 88th year when he died in August 1830.[3]

Oliver Shepard and Zerviah Hatch, both of Alstead, New Hampshire, married at Walpole, New Hampshire, on 29 Nov 1775.[4]
Death
The gravestone of Capt. Oliver Shepard at the Alstead Center Cemetery in Alstead, New Hampshire, says that he died on 1 Aug 1830, in his 88th year.[3]
