Biography

Edward Jennings Sheppard, was born 29th June 1887 [1] in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, the son of John Edmund Sheppard & Annie Prior Tinsley.

Edward Shepherd had been working at the Glassford Creek Copper Mine west of Miriam Vale, Queensland for about 2 months, after having arrived from Mount Morgan. He was at work on Tuesday 12th June 1906, when at 3.00 p.m. he was struck by falling debris from the over-burden of the open cut mine. The rock struck him on the left shoulder, lascerating it terribly as well as inflicting serious internal injuries. He was transported by coach to the Gladstone Hospital and died 13th June 1906, aged 19. He was laid to rest 14th June 1906 at the Gladstone Cemetery, Gladstone, Queensland, Australia.[2][3][4]
