(This is where all of John's children were born except, John, Jr., who would be born, 1790, on Buffalo Creek, near Wheeling, WV).

John and his four brothers, David, William, Thomas Jr, and Abraham, all served in the Revolutionary War. John served from Apr 1777-Mar 1778 under Capt. William Cherry's Co., 4th VA Regiment Infantry, as Private.

He married Martha Nelson. They moved their family to Buffalo Creek, Ohio County, (West) Virginia in 1787.
