Mollie Shepherd was a daughter of Mitchell Wilson Shepherd and Clerissa Arrowood Shepherd. She was born 24 August 1884 in Yancey County, NC.

She moved to north Buncombe County in the late 1890's along with her parents, her siblings, and the parents and siblings of Henry Taylor Shepherd, husband of Mollie's sister Magaret Jane Shepherd.
She married Philips Burgin Deaver 18 Jun 1905 in Buncombe County, NC.

On 19 Jun 1907, Mollie gave birth to their son John Mitchell Deaver, who died on 28 Mar 1972. (See the image of his death certificate.)
The federal census of 1910, listed on 4 May, found the family residing in the Mars Hill township of Madison County.[3] Phillips B. Deaver was 27; Mollie Shepherd Deaver was 26; son Osborne was 5; son Johnie M. was 3; and daughter Blanche was 11 months.
Mollie Shepherd Deaver died 1 Sep 1910. Burial was at the cemetery of Piney Mountain Baptist Church, Ivy township, Buncombe County, NC.
