Violet was born on the 7th April 1900 in Sunderland, Co. Durham. [1]. She was the daughter of William Charles Shepherd and Margaret Marlborough. She grew up with her parents in Sunderland where she lived for the whole of her life [2][3][4]
Violet married John George Gustard on the 30th July 1921 in St. Mark Church, Millfield, Sunderland. She was aged 21 years 4 months. [5]. They raised their family in Sunderland, John still being employed as a motor driver [6]. They had five children, one of whom, William, died shortly after birth.
Violet died on the 17th October 1980 in Sunderland. She was aged 80 years 6 months. [7]
