Lewis Alfred Shepherd was born on March 8, 1937, in West Union, Doddridge County, West Virginia, USA. He was the son of Oda Alf Shepherd and Ruby Waneta [Pierce] Shepherd.

Lewis married Karen Ann Smith on February 27, 1959, in West Union, Doddridge County, West Virginia.

Lewis A. Shepherd, 77, of West Union, WV, departed this life on Monday, March 2, 2015, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV.

Lewis was born March 8, 1937, in West Union, WV, a son of the late Oda and Ruby J. (Pierce) Shepherd. He was retired from the Equitable Gas Company after 35 years of service as a field foreman. Lewis was a proud graduate of Doddridge County High School, with the class of 1956, and a member of the Victory Baptist Church of Salem, WV. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He was a life long member of the NRA and the West Union American Legion. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gun collector.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Karen Ann (Smith) Shepherd; daughter, Tina Lea Jones (husband: Scott) of Oxford, West Virginia; grandchildren: Brenda Lynn McDonald (husband: Jeremy) of Berkley Springs, WV and Brenden Scott Osborne (wife: Kara) of Clarksburg, WV, great grandchildren: Abby Eakle and Elias Osborne, and his sister, Shirley Ramsey of West Union, WV.

McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV is assisting the family with the cremation arrangements.
