Biography

Charles Edward "Charlie" Sheppard was born in 1878 in Mudgee, New South Wales, Australia, the youngest son of Mary Sheppard and Charles Sheppard.^[1][2]

He was educated in Mudgee and served his apprenticeship in the town at the Mudgee Post and Telegraph Office.^[3] He was gazetted acting postmaster at Coolah, New South Wales in April 1900.^[4] By 1921, he was employed as chief electrician of the Eastern Telegraph Company.^[3]

He married Lilian Victoria Putland on 24 January 1906 at St Matthias' Church in Paddington, New South Wales.^[5][6] They had a daughter:^[2]

Charles died on 16 September 1945 in Mittagong, New South Wales, survived by his wife and their daughter.^[2][7]

At the time of his death, he lived at 12 Queen Street, Mosman, New South Wales.^[2]
