Biography
Emma Sophia Sherman was the daughter of James and Mary Sherman, possibly of Calais, Maine, US. She married John Chambers Cain and they had five children, living in Woodside, Kings County, Nova Scotia.
As per an entry on My Heritage, Emma's birth date is 1862, no location is known but is likely at the Woodside home. Death date is listed as 1892 from a headstone at Hillaton Cemetery, Hillaton, Kings County, NS. [1].
Her birthplace is listed in My Heritage as Calais Maine, parents "Capt." James Sherman and wife Mary are listed as parents on her marriage certification [2]
In the 1901 census her husband John Chambers Cain is shown with 5 children and his sister living in the house.
Her family line is a dead end so far with no further information on her parents, or confirmation her father's occupation as a sea captain, or shipping documentation.
