Biography

Daughter of Asahel Sherman and Rowena Lapham Ballou.

It can be a little confusing because George Emerson married Phebe Sherman and his sister, Nancy Emerson married Phebe's brother Dutee Sherman and his other sister Catherine Sherman married John Emerson. So, three siblings from one family (Emerson) married three siblings from another family (Sherman).

Catherine married John Emerson 17 Oct 1820 in Douglas, Worcester, Massachusetts.[1]

In 1850 Catherine and John Emerson were living in Wright Township, Guernsey, Ohio. Their birthplace was recorded as Rhode Island.[2]

In 1860 they were in Millwood Township, Guernsey, Ohio. In this census John's birthplace is recorded as Massachusetts and Catherine's as Rhode Island.[3]

In 1870 Catherine and John were living in Richland Township, Guernsey County, Ohio.[4]
