Hi Michael,

Thanks for your message indicating you wish to research and document your family tree. I have found WikiTree to be an excellent tool for research and collaboration.

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree. Once you entered your family members it is exciting to see other people finding your family profiles, asking questions, and expanding it.

To show you the benefits being a WikiTree member please refer to WikiTree Community Membership.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the G2G forum, or you might want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Great to have you on board, good luck growing your branches, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree.

I have been tracing both my family names Sherrington on my fathers side Stressing on my mothers side of the family. I know the Sherringtons lived mainly in Hertfordshire and the Stressing emanated from Germany coming to the uk circa 1895. When my mother died she left a few interesting documents and written notes.

I now live in the SW of France ! I have 2 children in the Uk, my son is the only person from the family who can carry the Sherrington name on in our branch ..no pressure !

Hi Michael,

A warm welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used and it is FREE. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

Here are some other suggestions for you to explore:

1. Our Help pages have all sorts of useful information and feel free to ask a question at our G2G forum.

2. Our Honor Code is a very important part of why our community is such a friendly place to grow your family tree so please take some time to read it.

3. Explore the Family Tree & Tools tab at the top of your profile.

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

More importantly, have fun growing your family tree and connecting to persons with the same interest.

Ludwig :)
