Emily Sherrington was born in 1882 in Wigan district. Her mother's maiden name was Molyneux.
Emily married James Eden on February 17th 1912 at St Nathaniel's Church in Platt Bridge, Hindley. James was 22 and a miner, and his address was 40 Walthew Lane. Emily was 18 and lived at King William Hotel. Neither had been married before. The fathers were Henry Eden (labourer) and William Sherrington (miner, deceased). The witnesses were John Partington and Jemima Jones.
James's father died in 1913 at the age of 63, and was buried in the churchyard of St John the Evangelist in Abram. His address was given as 4 Willow Lane, Abram.
James died at the R.A.E. Infirmary in Wigan at the age of 67, and was buried on January 3rd 1957 in St John the Evangelist churchyard in Abram, in the same grave as his elder brother Thomas. Emily died in 1963 at the age of 69 at Victoria Hospital, Blackpool, and was buried on July 3rd that year in the same grave as James. The address given for Thomas, James and Emily in the burial records was 39 Kingsdown Road, Abram.
