Thomas was born on 1 Jun 1745 in Old Stratford, Connecticut, USA. He died on 10 Dec 1826 in Brockville, Leeds, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of Seth Sherwood and Sarah Pitcher. Thomas married Annah Brownson about 1770 in of Fort Edwards, Washington, New York, USA
Thomas Sherwood was an Ensign in Loyal Rangers, serving under Major Edward Jessup. The Haldimand Papers, compiled in 1783, states that he was born in Connecticut and had served six and a half years in the Loyal Rangers.
Thomas moved to the area of Fort Edward, New York, where he had 150 acres of farmland.
Thomas was recognised as a United Empire Loyalist (UEL). He settled in Elizabethtown Township in 1784.
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
