Henry Sherwood, who settled on what was afterwards known as Sherwood Street, about four miles east of Marathon, Cortland County, N.Y. in 1804. He came there from Ridgefield, Connecticut, where he was engaged in the mercantile business, and settled five sons and two daughters on land that he had purchased there. Henry Sherwood died August 22, 1827, age nearly eighty five years.
Henry Sherwood was the fifth generation from Thomas Sherwood, who was born in England in 1586 and died in Connecticut in 1656.”
