Research Notes

His parents moved to Indiana.[4]

A biography of his grandson William E. Sherwood discusses the history of the Sherwood family. The family moved from Connecticut to Indiana where William's grandfather Eli Sherwood, Jr. married Nancy McAllister. They moved to Mississippi where son Jesse Sherwood (father of William E. Sherwood) was born. The family moved to New Madrid County Missouri (where Jesse married Emeline Dunkin.)[5]

Nancy McAllister Sherwood died in 1846. Eli Sherwood married Louisa Lorimier in 1847.

In 1850, Eli and Louisa Sherwood resided in New Madrid County, Missouri with children and step-children.[6]

There may have been an elderly Eli Sherwood resided in Connecticut in 1884, but it was not the Eli Sherwood born 14 Nov 1802.
