Biography

His parents moved to Ridgefield when he was an infant, and he resided there until 1825, when he removed to New York. Three years later her returned to Ridgefield.

In Dec. 1777, went as substitute for Joel Sturgis of Ridgefield, and performed duty at fairfield under command of Lt. Job Smith. In 1780 under Capt. Prior, Col. Bradley. Was present and saw Maj. Andre executed on 2 October. In July 1781, substituted for Stephen Bradley of Ridgefield, for 1 mo., under Capt. David Olmestead.
