With her sisters, Rene and Essie, she played competitive cricket for the Sans Souci Ladie's Cricket Club.[1]
Fernie played in the First Test Match against England held in Brisbane in 1934/1935.[2] She played alongside her sister Essie Shevill. This was her only test for Australia. In the next two test matches Fernie's twin sister, Rene Shevill, played.
