Richard or Ricardo was the son of Richard Sheil and Catherine Foley, who were both described as deceased in 1818.[1]
He was a merchant in Cadiz who was involved in trade with the Indies and shipped Sherry and Port to England. He became a Spanish citizen in 1800 after living there for 23 years.[2]
Richard married Emilia the daughter of Bartholomew Costello and Maria Emilia Fallon on 12th April 1799.[1][3]
They had a daughter Maria Josefa Emilia who was born on 17th December 1804 in Puerto-real. She married the Count of Villaret de Joyeuse.[3]
Nephew Richard Lalor Sheil, resided with him whilst he was in London.
After he died in 1818 his wife did not claim dividends due from the Bank of England.[4]
She was still alive in 1841 when she was involved in a court case regarding a shipment of wine.[5]
