Catherine was born about 1803. Catherine's birth date is based on the 1850 Census of Bond County,Illinois. She was 47 years old and born in South Carolina. Who was her father? She named one son Leander Shields Stephenson. This makes me think that her father might have been Leander Montgomery Shields who appears on the 1820 Census of Giles County,Tennessee: however, since she was born in South Carolina, I think Catherine's father was George Shields who was living in Pendleton County,South Carolina in 1800 and went to Giles County,Tennessee before 1810. The last trace of Catherine Shields Stephenson was in Bond County,Illinois. Shirley Mercer who supplied me with the information on Catherine Shields Stephenson does not know where Catherine is buried.
