Hi Luke

According to WT's Relationship Finder you and I are 16th cousins three times removed but it's through my Hawkins ancestors not the Laphams.

Joining the Lapham name study is easy - add Lapham as a tag you are following, add Member|ONS|name=Lapham - surrounded by {{ }} to your profile for the sticker and pitch in where you can. If you click on the tag it takes you to the list of people following the name and a list of those recently most active in it. You can also add your private profiles to the Study by adding One Name Study|name=Lapham - surrounded by {{ }} to their profile. You can copy that from any open Lapham profile to paste on them also - for example my grandfather Lapham-371 whose wife was the Hawkins.

I have limited myself primarily to the North American branch largely because I have no knowledge of or expertise in genealogy in Europe or Australia or New Zealand. There are orphaned Lapham profiles from England and Australia available for adoption if you want to take responsibility for them.

Welcome! Enjoy! and please let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

I understand that your work will predominately focus on North America, but a one name study is just that isn't it, there shouldn't be two studies for the same name, right?

Sorry if I was unclear - the Study is not limited to North America - just what I focus on. Of course it’’s world wide!

Hi Luke

Just to let you know there is a Lapham One Name Study that you are welcome to join. Are you a relative? We are almost all related one way or another.

Stay well, Jennifer Lapham

Hello Luke,

Thank you for upgrading and signing the Honor Code.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

You mentioned that you don’t know much about your family tree yet. I assume you are new to genealogy. No problem! Every genealogist is a beginner at some point.

Take your time, keep track of sources and ask questions. Check here for tips.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
