Walter was born January 13, 1889 in Georgia, United States of America to Robert Shields and Katherine Blaylock.[1] He served in World War I with the 60th Engineers as a PFC. He died October 21, 1955 and is buried in Jingo Cemetery, Jingo, Miami County, Kansas, United States of America.
