DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Shilling-178 and Schilling-424 do not represent the same person because: Too many things do not match.

The source of 95 percent of the information that I have received has been from Robert Letchford. who lives in England. He has written some very factual and fascinating facts about the origin of the Shillings and their history. He is the most knowledgeable person on his family history that I have encountered. I am still working on filling in the blanks, I just want to get it right.

note shilling is a toponymical name taken from the place shillingheld and is in no .way related to the coin which did not exist in england then, there are many descendents still in the area and nearly every shilling in england is descended from them. note the spelling should be shillinge at that time, joseph died and was buried march 5th 1601 throwley, the sondes still tried to claim lordship of the manor at the

They are obviously the same person. In respect of your grandmother, if you prefer to keep the spelling sans the "c" that is fine. But Wikitree is a collaborative effort with one profile per individual
Schilling-424 and Shilling-178 are not ready to be merged because: I know how some people spell the shilling name, but I was told by my grandmother that it was not spelled Schilling and never to spell it that was. As I have progressed through the Shilling history, I have found that the spelling stayed the same as far back as I can go. There are messages from a gentleman who lives in the area of Hampshire England. He has all the history and it has been confirmed. He is a Shilling cousin, there are notes from him on Samuel Shilling. Very interesting. I don't want to merge these two.
