Biography

Maria Phillipina Shinn is said to have been born about 1808 in the Carolinas.^[1][2] She may have used the nicknames Penny,^[3] Katie, Pennie, and Fennie.^[4]

She married Isaac Mathias Harkey about 1823 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina.^[5]

In 1850, Penny (age 42) and Isaac were in Pope, Arkansas, United States.^[1]

In 1860, Maria (age 52) and Isaac was in Dover Township, Pope County, Arkansas, United States.^[2]

Katy died (age 62) in November 1869 in Pope County, Arkansas, United States.^[6] She may have died in Russelville which is in Pope County.^[7]
