The land grant for Shipleys Adventure, consisting of 1,280 acres, was made to George Shipley on April 7, 1761. George, born September 26, 1727, was the grandson of Adam Shipley, the immigrant, and son of Robert and Elizabeth Stevens Shipley. He married Catherine Ogg, the daughter of George and Mary Potee Ogg, in 1747, by whom he fathered nine children.
George did not get to enjoy his land and home long, as when approximately 50 years of age, he suffered a serious illness that left him an invalid. Unable to care for his responsibilities, two of his sons, Duncan and Talbot, were appointed, shortly thereafter, his guardians.
George Shipley passed away at Shipleys Adventure on January 15, 1802.
He clearly ties into a maternal Shipley line here, but i believe as well, he is actually a Shipley paternity wise. We believe his father sired him with Celia Lovit In Kentucky USA we are a bit lost at this point but i am interested in talking more... [email address removed]
