Biography
Martha was born about 1759. She is the daughter of Israel Shipman and Jane Wheeler. In her father's 1817 will, she was left $100 and the "South half of my dwelling house, garden on the south side, furniture, all my articles to continue the weaving business, a cow, firewood, as long as she remains single."
