Biography

I'm trying to trace my family history as much as I can. I have a lot of information on my mothers side of the family, but nothing in my father's side. I don't know for sure who he is, speculations only. So just searching for any relative I can find on either side if my family.

I will also be searching for my grandson's father's family as well. I have done DNA testing on 2 of them out of 4 so far, they all have different dad's and we only know a little about 1 of them.

So I have only been using my DNA so far until I get a better idea and understanding of what I'm doing exactly.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with A or other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with A:

Hi A,

Thanks for having a big heart and adopting the Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention those profiles need.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources, merge duplicates, clean up gedcom biographies, and interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Hi there,

Where will I find the list of 'Orphaned Profiles' that I adopted??

Thank You, Arlynda

Hi Arlynda,

You can find the profiles you adopted using the My WikiTree > Contributions menu item in the upper right half of any profile page. When the Contributions page opens, search for the word "adopted."

You can also find them in your Watchlist (My WikiTree > Watchlist) but it isn't as easy to tell which ones you created manually and which were adopted.

Shipman-2029 and Shipman-2127 appear to represent the same person because: I didn't realize I had already created an account with a different email. My mother is Carol Sue Brown DOB 12/16/1943 and DOD 03/16/2014. My maiden name is Shipman and my married name is Gunning.

Please merge the two profiles for delete Shipman-2127.

Thank you!

Hello again!

You've been a member for a few weeks so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!

I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Cindy ~ WikiTree Messenger

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Greetings AK!

I am happy to congratulate you for becoming a full member of the WikiTree community! To help save you time, energy and frustration, please start with our New Member How-To pages.

Click the green Tag on your top right of your profile page and see others following the same things you are researching. The more Tags (20 is the maximum) you add that include locations, periods of history or other genealogical interests, the more links to the community research options.

Welcome to the WikiTree family! Please ask if you have any questions as I am always happy to help.

Cindy ~ WikiTree Greeter

PS If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section of your profile page.

Hi AK, and thank you for volunteering!

Before I can confirm your membership, I’ll need you to add a little more information about your genealogical interests.

You can do this by editing your tags/comments, adding a couple of sentences to your biography, or posting a brief message in the public comments section of your profile page.

Once we know you are here to help grow the tree, a greeter will be happy to confirm your membership. If you have questions about WikiTree, please feel free to contact me via my profile page.

Thanks, David ~ WikiTree Greeter
