Biography

This profile is part of the Shipp Name Study.
John Shipp was born in Appalachia, in Kentucky.

John was born in 1824. He is the son of Wyatt Shipp and Mary Chandler.[1]

He married Caroline Mardis probably sometime in 1851 or early 1852 since their first child was born in December 1852.. They resided in Hart County when the 1860 census was enumerated.[2]

They were the parents of at least 7 children:

John was a farmer and listed that as his occupation when he registered for the civil war draft in 1863.[5]

His death occurred sometime after 1880 probably in Hart County, Kentucky. He appeared on in the Hart County, Kentucky 1880 census.[4]
