He was twice married. Both marriages were in Cambridge, England.

He first married Sophice Cornwall in Cambridge, England. They had four children - two daughters and two sons. The daughters were Susan (born abt 1846) and Eliza (born abt 1847). The two sons from his first marriage predeceased him.
2nd Marriage
He subsequently married Sarah Marshall, also in Cambridge. They had seven children; six were born in the Colony of New South Wales:
  • Flower (born abt 1856)
  • Hannah (born abt 1858)
  • Ephraim (born abt 1858)

  • a son who predeceased his father...possibly stillborn or born in England or at sea (no birth registration found in NSW)

He emigrated to the Colony of New South Wales about 1855. He was probably the Thomas Ship who arrived on the Morayshire in 1856 with his family.[5]

He passed away on 20 November 1896 in Keiraville in the Colony of New South Wales and his remains were interred in the Congregational Cemetery in Wollongong.

He was about 41 years in the Colony.
