Hey there, cousin!

Welcome to Wikitree.

I, too, am descended from the Hopkins line, on my mother's side -- he is my 13th great-grandfather; she, my 12th great-grandmother.

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Participation in a project is strongly encouraged for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Be sure to also check out our Volunteer Hub to see our projects that really need new members!

Let me know, and I can help you figure out if there's a project that might interest you. Welcome aboard, we are glad to have you!

HI, I see you are working on merges, you may want to review Merging FAQs to understand your responsibilities in doing merges. Remember, after the merge you will want to clean up the text. During a merge, the text from the merged-away profile is simply appended onto the end of the text of the merged-into profile. You will want to integrate it into a single biography and a single sources section. Thanks so much for helping improve Wikitree! If you have any questions, just let me know.

How's everything going?

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hello again Lauren,

You are now a Shirkey twig on a branch of our great big ole shared tree, thank you for volunteering!

We have a Question of the Week posted in our Genealogist-To-Genealogist (G2G) forum if you'd like to jump in and answer it, just click Going back in time: What burning question would you ask which ancestor?

Have fun and ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow family historian/genealogist.

If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.

See you in the branches --

Hey Lauren,

If you have other interests, you may want to change one or two of your tags to represent them. Another Surname? A geographical location where your family is from? A specific facet of Genealogy like One Name Studies or DNA?

Hi Lauren,

Welcome to WikiTree!

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.
