These books aren’t 100% accurate as I’ve often found but I find them a good resource in the absence of anything more concrete. Unless we can find something which shows that the book is wrong I think we should keep her last name as Shirley. Shirley is a very common Irish name and it’s possible that they were unrelated to each other or distant cousins.
