Clayton E. (Bucky) Shirley Jr

Clayton E. (Bucky) Shirley Jr., 69, of Endicott, died peacefully Monday evening, May 5, 2003, at his home, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father, Clayton Shirley Sr. He is survived by his five children, Clayton (Beaver) Shirley, Rochester, Kathy Shirley and Terry Harding, Apalachin, Merry Ellen Depersis and Mike Samiani, Endicott, Jon Jon Shirley, and David and Renee Shirley, all of Endicott; five grandchildren; the mother of his children, Margaret (Effie) Garren; mother, Dorothy Shirley; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Sylvester and Bonnie Shirley, Endicott, Gerald Shirley, Candor; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice and Don Morey, Endicott, Althea and Ray Hallett, Endicott; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and his longtime companion, his dog, Louie. Clayton was a father to five Dad to many and friend to everyone. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the US Marines. He was an exceptional brick mason who took great pride in his work. "Top of the line." A memorial service will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 E. Main St., Endicott. Rev. David C. Seaver, Chaplain of Spiritual Care at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Hospice Program, c/o Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
