Solomon shook is documented in the book "Pioneer History of Illinois" where is thought to have moved to Illinois with a group of people from Hardy County, Virginia with his wife and at least one daughter Margaret Rachel Shook Boucher who is also cited the the book. Their arrival at New Design, Illinois in what is present day Monroe County, Illinois is listed as either 1796 or 1797.
There is a Solomon Shook found in the 1820 US Census for Monroe County, Illinois and this could be him or son Solomon Shook, Jr.. Solomon Shook also purchased 178 acres of land on 5 Feb 1816 in Illinois and is buried in the Miles Cemetery in Monroe County, Illinois.
Find a grave has his death as being in 1806 but it could be later as there is a Solomon Shook in the census as indicated above.
